I am the Youth
Pastor.
Our youth group has just over a hundred and eighty members,
and only about a hundred of them also go to church here. That means we have a
lot of people that interact with the Church only through youth group on Tuesday
nights and some of the other get togethers we have on weekends. Kingdom Tools
enables us to keep everyone closely knit and in the loop regarding what we have
coming up.
I use Kingdom Tools to:
-
Login from home and update the Youth web
presence
- When
we first got Kingdom Tools, I would create a version of the youth website and
then our pastor would approve it to automatically go live, but now he just lets
me update it live (without creating versions)
-
Manage and communicate our upcoming events
- Usually
I login and create events on our youth group calendar. If it's an event that is
for the whole church or community, I'll have Kingdom Tools display it on the
website calendar. I can even have KT promote an upcoming event on our church's
website, and then when the date passes, the website doesn't mention the event
anymore. If it's an event that's just for youth leaders, I'll have the event
display just on the back-end calendar that the youth leaders access.
- Remind
other youth workers of their scheduled commitments: I have KT send
reminders to people scheduled to work
- Keep
our team aware via our private calendars
- Allow
people to register online for events
- Allow
people to be involved in our online community
- Expand
our community via broadcasting capabilities: we podcast teachings and
worship sets that occur at our youth group events.
Another youth leader uses Kingdom Tools to manage all of the
member information. We can upload pictures in our directories and report on
attendance and other relevant information, like who is graduating, for example.
He also keeps a log of spiritual growth steps of the members.
